Obituary

Agnes Mitchell, 82, died Wednesday, May 19th at the Marion County Hospital.
A retired restaurateur, Agnes owned Mitch's Café in Ransom KS and Bazine KS and lived in Ness City since 1974, coming there from Dighton KS. She retired from the restaurant business in 1991 and worked part time at the Derrick Inn in Ness City till she moved to Marion KS to be closer to her youngest daughter Sandy Holub.
Agnes was born in Mobridge SD April 7th 1928 to Jake and Margaret Bosch Schmaltz. She is the oldest of 7 children. Brothers Ray Schmaltz of Auburn WA, Eugene Schmaltz of Everett WA, Willie Schmaltz of Mobridge SD, and her sister Betty Lipp lives in Greybull WY. She married John Mitchell November 8th 1948. She is preceded in death by her husband John, Daughter Tracey Kottmeyer, and two Brothers Alfred and Edward Schmaltz. She is survived by daughters Donna Thatcher and Debbie Autry of Wichita Ks, Sandy and her husband Tom Holub of Marion KS and son Jim and his wife Mary Mitchell of Rozel, KS. She has 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grand children.
Services will be Saturday, May 22nd with a rosary led by Helen Finger at 2:30PM and funeral services at 3:00PM at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City KS with Father Henry Hildebrandt officiating. Burial will be in the Ness City Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Agnes Mitchell Memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
