M. Ann Garrelts, age 68, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at her home near Hays. She was born on July 10, 1941 in Maywood, California the daughter of Jesse and Helen Doty Clouston. Ann held many jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was being a handcrafted soap maker as the craftswoman and owner of Smokey Hills Suds. Ann and her family made their home in Hays in 1994 coming from Topeka.
On September 5, 1960 she married Gayle Garrelts in Ness City, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include her son, Cade Garrelts, Olathe, two brothers, Bob Clouston, Manhattan and Don Clouston, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two sisters, Mary Lee DeShazo, Dighton and Jeanne McDonald, Johnstown, Colorado, and 2 grandchildren.
Friends may call on Monday from 9am until 9pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Graveside funeral service will be at the Ransom Cemetery on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, 11:00 am with Rev. Bruce Ferguson, presiding. The family will gather at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
