Obituary

Ann Lee Stieben, 78, Bazine, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 20, 2013 at her home.

She was born October 31, 1934 in LaCrosse, KS to Lawrence and Mollie (Reifschneider) Bott. She married Billy Wayne Margheim February 13, 1955. He preceded her in death November 2, 1992. She later married Carl H. Stieben on November 28, 1999. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2011. She was a graduate of LaCrosse High School and a longtime resident of Bazine. In earlier years, she had been a secretary for Bazine High School, Relief Post Master for Bazine, restaurant owner, and retired in 1998 from the ASCS Office. She was a member of the Ness City American Legion Auxiliary and the Bazine United Methodist Church.

Ann enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, and attending school sports to watch her and Carly's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was well known for her many donated homemade pies to school functions, church dinners, and Legion fundraisers.

Survivors include: son, Danny Margheim of Denver, CO, daughter Tina Slagle and husband Brent of Ness City, daughter Lori Hertel and friend Bob Black of Bazine; sister Lilah Hallett of Rush Center, half-sisters Karen Powell of Garden City, Faye Bott of Garden City, and Judy Godek of Texas. Stepdaughters Lora Bruntz and husband Eldon; Lynette Stenzel and husband Loren. Stepsons Lonnie Stieben and wife Karin; Nick Stieben and wife Tonetta. Grandchildren; Andrea Slagle (Joe), Melissa Vavricka (Chris), and Lucas Hertel (Brandy); Great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Taylor Vavricka; 10 Step-grandchildren and 16 Step-Great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Mollie Bott; Step-mother Elvina Rodie Bott; Aunts Nora Foos, Rose Moore, and Hilda Haskin.

Funeral will be Thursday, July 25, at 10:00 A.M. at the Bazine United Methodist Church. Graveside services immediately following at the Bazine Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Bazine United Methodist Church or Bazine American Legion.
