Anthony Leon
Rupp
December 8, 1958 – April 29, 2025
Anthony Leon "Toney" Rupp, Jr, lovingly known as "Butch" or "Junior," passed away on April 29, 2025, at his home in Ness City. He left behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and unwavering love for his family. He was born on December 8, 1958, in LaCrosse, Kansas, the son of Anthony Frank and Ruth Marie (Rebel) Rupp.
On December 6, 1980, he married Susan Bean in Ness City. Two loving daughters came from this union.
Butch dedicated his life to the oilfield industry, where he worked tirelessly and with pride. A lifelong lover of sports, he began his athletic journey playing basketball at Sacred Heart School. His passion grew stronger throughout high school, and after graduating, he remained a devoted fan. He especially loved cheering for the Los Angeles Lakers, Kansas Jayhawks basketball, and his beloved Kansas City Chiefs.
Watching games became a cherished ritual—particularly when shared with his sister and best friend, Patty. The two would text throughout every play, bonding over the wins and losses. His daughter, April, inherited his sports enthusiasm, even playfully tricking him about playoff outcomes when she recorded games for him on VHS after work.
Butch adored his family. Patty was not only his sister but also his best friend, travel buddy, and personal chef—always preparing his favorite German meals and desserts. His daughters held a special place in his heart, and his grandchildren and great-granddaughter brought him immense joy. His face lit up during FaceTime calls, and he was always thrilled to receive new pictures of them. His teasing sense of humor brought laughter to his nephews and smiles to everyone around him.
To know Butch was to know kindness, loyalty, and a deep sense of love. His memory will live on in every game watched, every laugh shared, and every story told.
He is survived by his two daughters, April Rupp of Ransom and Katherine (Doug) Ray of Pratt; two brothers, Perry (Barbara) Rupp of Ness City and Todd (Susan) Rupp of Beloit; a sister, Patty Rohr of Holcomb; six grandchildren, Shelby (Lance) Zeno, Dylan Fehrenbach, Thomas Fehrenbach, Jayven Teets, Kamden Teets, and Linkyn Ray; and a great granddaughter, Lilah Haze Zeno.
Toney was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Mitchell Rohr, and a brother-in-law, Ronald Rohr.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday May 24 at Sacred Heart Church in Ness City, where friends and family are invited to gather with the Rosary starting at 10 am and mass of Christian burial at 10:30 am. Inurnment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
