Areta Eileen Hartman, age 71, passed away September 12, 2013 at the Ness County Hospital, Ness City, Kansas. She was born on November 4, 1941 in Ransom, Kansas the daughter of Herman Oscar and Hazel Hoch Ummel.

On December 26, 1961 she married Norman Hartman in Utica, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2002. She is survived by their sons, Roger Hartman and his wife Darlene Walker, Hays and Kenneth Hartman, Utica; daughters Pamela Ice and her husband Kevin, Lynnville, IN and Sandra Hartman, Utica; her brother Gary Ummel, Harper, KS; two sisters Alice Hobbs, Inman, KS and Anna Meis and her husband (Zane), Cheyenne Wells, CO, five grandchildren and two great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her sister Bessie Edwards.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, 10:00 A.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas. Burial in the Ransom Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday, September 16 at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M.
