Arthur Irvin Pember, 89, passed away on August 10, 2021 at the Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas. He was born on December 5, 1931 in Ness City, Kansas the son of Irvin and Minnie (Koester) Pember.
Art was a life-long farmer and rancher. He met his wife of over 50 years while racing on the highways of Ness County. Both Art and Wiletta took great pride in the quality of cattle they raised on the ranch that was settled by his grandfather in 1885. A habit of hard work and dedication to the Lord were paramount to the longevity of his life, marriage and standing within the community. With Faith as a cornerstone, Art and his family were able to weather the many ups and downs that come with the life of a farmer/rancher.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a past president of the Ness County Fair Board, and a member of the Ness County Historical Society, Right Coop, and Farm Management Association, and a pillar of the community.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Myrna Post of Claflin, Marianne Lee of Ardmore, Ok; 4 grandchildren, Tatum Lee (and husband, Scott Hahn) of Ness City, Chris Post of Little Rock, AR, Tisha Rein (and husband, Travis) of Wichita, Evan Post of Basehor, KS; and 1 great-grandchild, Josie Mae Post of Little Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wiletta, grandson, Ryan, and 4 sisters, Oma Burns, Valda Burns, Mary Pember, and Dorothy Schriock.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, August 14, 10:00 A.M., at the United Methodist Church, Ness City. Burial in the Ness City Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas, 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 13, with the family present from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. The service will also be available online on Facebook Live by searching the Fitzgerald Funeral Home page.
Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church, Ness County Historical Society, or Ness County Fair Board.
Words of sympathy and support may be left for the family by signing the guestbook.
