Dateline: Ransom, Kansas

Carl Lee Harris, 68, passed away on May 27, 2016 at the Rhode Island Suites in Ransom. He was born on April 17, 1948 in Larned the son of Clifford and Helen (Andersen) Harris.

Carl always carried cherished photographs of beloved family members in his shirt pocket. Tattered, worn, much loved images of the people he carried closest to his heart.
He loved many things: Elvis, music and playing his guitar among them. Carl had a great sense of humor and a prankster spirit. His laugh was contagious. Carl enjoyed holidays with a child-like glee, "Walloween", The Fourth of July and Christmas among his favorites. Getting a card with cash in it always received a resounding and excited declaration of "Eighty-Five Dollars!" no matter how much was given.
If you ever had the opportunity to go bowling with Carl, you know it wasn't easy to beat him. You also never enjoyed a game as much! Even a gutter ball received a whoop and holler with his hands in the air and a round of high fives.
He may not have been able to speak with perfect clarity, but he was perfectly clear about the things he loved, and didn't love so much; like receiving a gift when he already had one, having to take a bath, wear new shoes, or being presented with a food he didn't like!
Knowing Carl and having him as a part of your family made you see the world in a different way. It is more bright and more gentle and more magical, and most importantly, more filled with love and kindness to others who may be different from you.
He is survived by his three brothers, Donald (Ivey) Harris – Leavenworth, Arlyn (Nancy) Harris, Jenks, Oklahoma, Gail (Kaye) Harris, Ness City; two sisters, Bertha Shannon, Liberty, Missouri and Carol (Larry) Halsey, Loveland, Colorado; sister-in-law, Carol Harris, Scottsdale, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Merle Harris and brother-In Law, Jim Shannon.

Graveside memorial service will be on Saturday, June 4, 2016, 10:30 AM, at the Ransom Cemetery, Ransom.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Rhode Island Suites, Ransom or the Foothills Gateway, Fort Collins, Colorado.
