Obituary

Carl Keilman, 94, passed away on July 14, 2025 at the Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom, Kansas.  He was born on January 5, 1931 in Horace, Kansas the son of Russell and Allene (Root) Keilman.

Carl was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the United States National Guard. He was one of the founders of the Barbed Wire Museum in LaCrosse.  He married Betty Reed on May 25, 1952, in Ness City, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Keilman of Ness City; 3 sons, Don of Great Bend, Steve of Arnold, Russell of Ransom; 2 daughters, Sharon and her husband, Mark of Ness City, Becky and her husband, Kyle of Natoma; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Birtie Montgomery of Van Buren, AR; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Allene (Root) Keilman; son, Ralph; twin granddaughters, Melissa and Michelle; grandson, Jed; and brother, James.

A graveside service will be on Thursday, July 17, 2025, 10:30 a.m., at the Ness City Cemetery, Ness City, Kansas with Rev. John Grimm officiating.
