It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dakota James McInnis. Dakota was born June 23, 1993, in Garden City, Kansas. He passed tragically in a motor vehicle accident on February 8, 2026, at the age of 32. He is the son of Cally Landon of Deerfield and Holly McInnis of Wichita. Dakota is a 2012 graduate of Ness City High School.

Dakota lived a happy life. He loved riding his four-wheeler, fishing with his father, camping, listening to music, and helping on the farm. He lived every moment to the fullest and loved spending time with his family. Anyone who knew him knows he had a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories for all that love him.

Dakota leaves behind his father, Cally Landon and step-mother, Kelly Tucker; his two younger siblings, Adelyn Landon and Daniel Landon; his mother, Holly McInnis; his brothers, Travon, EJ, Makeil, Marcel, Hayden, and Javon all of Wichita; his sisters, Macayla of Wichita and Shaelyn of Ness City; grandmother, Deborah McInnis of Ness City; his nephew, Elix III; his nieces, Ameri, Kehlani, and Evonnie; cousins, Chandra McInnis, Devon McInnis, Tinesha Landon-Thomas; his aunt, Brandy McInnis; grandmother, Gloria Allen, grandpa, Charles Allen both of Garden City; aunt & uncle, Angie and Jimmy Dunsworth; cousins, Ari and Dalton Park, Zach Dunsworth, Laura Dunsworth, and Remi Dunsworth.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Danny Landon and James McInnis; his uncle, Darrell Lowe, Sr.; his cousins, Sarah Jameson and Miranda Dunsworth, and aunt, Sherri Weippert.

Dakota's presence will be painfully missed by family, friends, co-workers and all that had the pleasure of meeting him.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Dakota McInnis Memorial Fund in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home. Followed by private family inurnment in the Ness City Cemetery.
