David Mesa Gonzalez, 61, passed away on December 8, 2022, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas surrounded by his daughter and 2 granddaughters. He was born on April 7, 1961, in Fort Stockton, Texas the son of Gilberto and Rosela (Vasquez) Vasquez.
David graduated in 1979 from Del Rio High School. He loved music. He was in a band in his younger days. He worked for Lockhart for many years and then for Paragon Geophysical Services from January 2020 until present. He loved being a mechanic. Woodworking was his passion. He enjoyed being outside, watching his shows, Nascar, golf, and football with his family. He was a hard worker. He enjoyed his time with his grandkids. He was over all a loving and caring son, father, grandpa, and friend. He married Susie Richardson in 2004. She passed away in 2013.
Survivors include his mother, Rosela M. Vasquez, his sister Cindy Vasquez, and brother, Joey Vasquez, all of Del Rio, TX; 2 daughters Shanaya (Charlie) Hoopman of Ness City, Casandra Hoopman of Ashland, WI; 3 sons, David "Tony" (Lynn) Hoopman of Proctor, MN, Jason (Denise) Richardson of Ness City, Travis (Becky) Richardson of Oklahoma City, OK; his grandkids, Lizzy, Tanner, Xoe, Tucker, Aurora, Kinley, Josephine, Katelyn, Ethan, Andrew, Whitney, Allie, James, Autumn, Paisley, 2 great-grandkids, Holly and Emily; niece and nephew, Tonio and Audrey Vasquez; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto Vasquez, wife, Susie Richardson, brother, Jesse Vasquez, grandparents, Jose and Juliana Mesa, and Toribio and Eulalia Vasquez.
Memorial service will be on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 A. M., at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas. Visitation will be at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 5:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
