David Eugene Lawrence, 81, passed away on November 24, 2021 at Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas.  He was born on April 9, 1940 in Wright County, Missouri the son of Richard and Dortha (Conrow) Lawrence.

He was a blacksmith and welder and could create and fix anything that was made out of metal. On April 8, 1961 he married Joanne Bongartz in Ness City, Kansas.  This marriage was blessed by six children.   He later married Barbara (Stieben) Spayde on Thursday, May 9th, 1991, in Great Bend, Kansas.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Vance Lawrence of Topeka, Kansas and Dan Lawrence of Cameron, Missouri; three daughters, Denise Murphy of Blue Springs, Missouri, Vanetia Rostetter of Dodge City, Kansas and Desiree Kennedy of Tonganoxie, Kansas; one step-son, Gregory Spayde, Arizona; two step-daughters Rhonda Pavic, Ohio and Misti Nixon, Kansas; one sister, Mildred Norris of Florida; 11 grandchildren, 11 step- grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David C. Lawrence; brother, Charles Lawrence; and step-son Michael Spayde.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, December 2, 2021, 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Ness City, Kansas.  Burial in the Ness City Cemetery.  Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
