Dean Holmes of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023.  Celebration of Life Service will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 207 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Ness City, KS on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow in the Ness City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4th, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dean Holmes was born on July 14, 1937 to Carl and Bernice Holmes.  Dean grew up in Ness County, Kansas.  He attended Bazine High School. What Dean was most proud of was his kids and grandkids, followed by his job as Quality Control Engineer in the construction of the B-2 "Stealth" Bomber.  He was formerly married to Shirla Bittner Holmes.  Four children were born of this marriage, Regina, Lyle, Craig and Jeff.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Regina Lovell and husband, John; Lyle Holmes and wife LaDawn; and Craig Holmes and wife, Betty; one brother, Larry Holmes; eight grandchildren, Sarah Holmes, Mitch Holmes, Lindy Waltrip, Amanda Holmes, Tyke Holmes, Jace Holmes, Drake Holmes, and Cassie Haney; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and his special friend of 15 years, Michelle Sander.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Don Holmes, and his youngest son, Jeff Holmes.
