James Dennis Johnson, 86, passed away on January 29, 2023 at the Ness County Hospital in Ness City, Kansas.  He was born on June 2, 1936 in Lisle, Missouri the son of James and Elva (Shover) Johnson.

Dennis was a station manager for Beeler Coop. He was also a farmer. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW. He also volunteered with the Beeler Rural Fire Department. He married Joyce Arlene Adolph on April 21, 1955.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Arlene Johnson of Beeler; 3 sons, Richard (Judy) Johnson of Utica, Ronald (Gaylee) Johnson of Beeler, Charlie Johnson of Denver, CO; daughter, Denise (Travis) Swafford of Purcell, OK; 2 sisters, Shirley Foos of Ness City, Glada Ummel of Arnold; sister-in-law, Deloris Dutoit of Dighton; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dustin Johnson; and 2 sisters, Sharon Whipple, and Orpha May Johnson.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
