Donald Christopher Birnbaum, age 84, passed away on February 18, 2014 at Grisell Memorial Hospital, Ransom, Kansas. He was born the son of Christopher and Doris Devota Stumpff Birnbaum on October 14, 1929 on the farm near Utica, Kansas.
He was a farmer and rancher and worked on a highway bridge construction crew. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Utica.
He is survived by three sons: Jack (Deborah), Urbandale, Iowa, Jim (Chris), Merriam, Kansas, and Bob (Rochelle), Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two brothers: Lyle, Lebo, Kansas and Ed, Fort Dodge, Iowa; five sisters: Carol Birnbaum and Juanita Bock both of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Twila Johnston, Ness City, Kansas, Wanda Hanson, Utica, Kansas, and Christine Armstrong, Phoenix, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Timmons.
Memorial contributions may be given to Rhode Island Suites in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, PO Box 96, Ness City.
Memorial services are being planned for the Spring and will be announced by the family at a later date.
