Edward (Eddie) W. Stecklein, age 92, died Feburary 2, 2011 at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City, Kansas. He was born on July 22, 1918 in Ness County, Kansas the son of Carl and Anna Doerfler Stecklein. He was a farmer and a mechanic. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Knights of Columbus, Ness City. On September 25, 1944 he married Lydia Pfannenstiel. She survives. Other survivors include son, Warren Stecklein, Scott City; daughter Cheryl Griffin (Larry), Hutchinson; sister, Lorene Pfannenstiel, Ness City; grandchildren Darrin Griffin (Keri) Minneapolis, Kansas and Tiffany Stecklein and great grandsons, Lane and Wyatt Griffin. He was preceded in death by sons, Brad and Laverne Stecklein, grandson, Garrett Stecklein; brothers: George, Isidore, Henry, Alfred, and Paul Stecklein; and sisters: Josephine Gabel, Mathilda Dinges, Irene Herman, and Beneta Stecklein. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, Feburary 5, 10:30 am at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City with Bishop John Brungardt, Bishop Ronald Gilmore, Fr. John Strasser and Fr. Henry Hildebrandt presiding. Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Parish vigil will be Friday, 7:00 pm at the church. Friends may call Friday 9 am until 5 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home.
