Elsie Hinnergardt, 92, died February 9, 2013, at Lone Tree Lodge in Meade. She was born August 21, 1920 in Rifle, Colorado, to Fred and Mary Klein Mickeal.
Elsie was reared and attended school in Rifle. On August 21, 1939 Victor Hinnergardt and Elsie were married at Bazine, a marriage that lasted for more than 60 years. He preceded her in death in January, 2000.
They farmed near Bazine, Kansas, for many years. Retiring from the farm they moved to Dodge City in 1991. In March, 2006, she moved to Liberal, Kansas, to live with her son Jim. In July, 2011, she moved to Lone Tree Lodge in Meade. She loved to sew, garden, bake, and iron clothes for others. Her hobby was collecting elephants. One of her family members depicted her life illustrated by the song title, "Full Throttle and Never Back Down". She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bazine and worked with the Senior Companion Program.
Survivors include 3 sons, Jim Hinnergardt – Liberal, Kenneth Hinnergardt and wife Judy - Dodge City, Freddy Hinnergardt and wife Debra Jo– Montezuma; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grand children, 3 step great grandchildren, 2 great great grand children, and 3 step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 13 brothers and sisters, husband Victor, and a step granddaughter.
Per her request, cremation has taken place with a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, 10:00 A.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Burial will follow at the Bazine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bazine United Methodist Church or the Bazine Cemetery Fund in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, P. O.
