Elvira M. Kerr, age 88, died on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Ness County Hospital, Ness City, Kansas. She was born on May 10, 1922 on a farm Southwest of Bazine, Kansas to John Gotleib and Bertha Krug Schneider.

She attended a country school, graduated from Bazine High School, and then attended Venus Beauty School where she earned her beautician license. She was a lifetime resident of Ness County, a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Altar Society, American Legion Auxilary, and ESA all of Ness City.

On March 24, 1944 she married Wayne E. Kerr at the St. Ignatius Church, Nonchalanta, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1995.

She is survived by her son, Mark Kerr and his wife Renee, Ness City; daughter, Gloria Keenan and her husband Terry, Ness City; two sisters, Glenda Koch, Great Bend and Jenetta Filbert, Bazine; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Keenan; her husband and parents.

Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1-6 pm, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00am until 9:00pm. Parish Vigil will be Thursday, February 3, 2011, 7:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday 10:30 am at the Sacred Heart Church with Father Henry Hildebrandt presiding. Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Sacred Heart Church or the Ness City Public Library.
