Emily Nichole Smith, age 24, died on December 15, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.  She was born on February 19, 1999, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Stan and Michelle Byers Dawes.

She was a Ness City High School graduate and was teaching Fourth Grade in the Ness City Elementary School. Emily enjoyed fishing and bowling and she loved all animals.  Emily loved and was loved by her students.

She is survived by her husband Kaydan Smith.  They were married on December 19, 2020, in Ness City.

She is also survived by her parents, Stan Dawes and Michelle Dawes; five sisters, Krista (John) McMillan, Alicea Dawes, Natasha (Wesley Shepard) Dawes, Skylean (Nikki) Fosnight, Francis (Brewseter Garrity) Dawes; four brothers, Daniel (Karla Reyes) Boden. Eddie Boden, Treven Dawes, and Steven Hoyt; parents-in-law, Dan and Kim Smith; sister-in-law, Morgan (Bryan) Bishop, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at the Ness City Methodist Church, Ness City with burial in the Ness City Cemetery. Viewing will be on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Ness City Elementary School.
