Florence C. Hertel, age 91, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Ness County Hospital, Ness City, Kansas. Born October 22, 1918 in Spearville, Kansas the daughter of Harry and Anna Alring Droste. She was a homemaker, a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary all of Ness City. On August 2, 1939 she married Edmund Hertel in Dodge City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1996. She is survived by three sons: Kenneth, Wichita; Gerald, Midland, Texas; Wayne, Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, Lynette Gibson, Belpre, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 24 great –grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Roman, George, Herman, and Joe Droste, and six sisters: Agnes Bogner, Helen Burkhart, Marie Minert, Emma Droste, Anna Beck, and Adrian Stamwitz. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 21, 2010, 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City. Rosary will be Wednesday, 7:00 pm at the church. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-9 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am - 5pm and at the church until service time. Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Ness City. Memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart School or Cemetery Fund.
