Obituary

Frances Kay Pfaff passed away at Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom, Ks on May 19, 2026 at the age of 82. On May 31, 1943, she was born the daughter of Katherine Elizabeth (Eichman) Raskoph and Leo Raskoph in Ness City, Ks.

She attended Ness City High School until her junior year. She then dropped out and later got her GED. She then got her CNA and Home Health Aide certification and worked at Ransom Hospital for 10 years and worked in LaCrosse as well. She then retired in 2005.

Kay married Roy Allen Pfaff on October 4, 1961 in LaCrosse, Ks. She became a farmer's wife and helped out at the farm and would cook meals and take meals out to the fields during harvest. Some of the things that she loved to do were delivering baby calves and pigs, milking cows, raising chickens, and raising puppies. She also enjoyed crafting and taking care of her grandchildren and her dogs; Bunney, Penny, Bobo and Rosie.

Survivors include 2 daughters; Susan (Joe) Gabel of LaCrosse, Jennifer Strickler of Ransom; 5 grandchildren, Caitlin Gabel (Austin) of Hays, Jessica (Marshall) Broberg of Otis, Jenna Strickler (Jacob) of Dodge City, Alana (Jayme) Flax of Utica, Rebecca Strickler of Ransom; an honorary grandson John Ummel of Ransom and 3 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Broberg, Mya Broberg, and Archer Savage. Other survivors are one brother-in-law, Benny (Cindy) Boley; and 4 sisters-in-law, Laura (Duane) Morgan, Betty Miller, Becky Duram, and Eileen (Larry) Backstrom. She is preceded in death by her Husband Roy Allen Pfaff, 2 kids Kimberly Alice Pfaff, Roy Allen Pfaff JR, her parents Katherine and Leo Raskoph, Her brother Larry Raskoph, and 3 sisters Nancy Snodgrass, Vivian Conner, and Rita Leiker.

The memorial service will be on Saturday, May 30, 2026, 10:30 a.m., at the Praise Fellowship Church, Ransom, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Grandchildren's Education Fund.
