Lifelong Ness County resident, Frank Fehrenbach, age 88, passed away June 15, 2010 at Cedar Village, Ness City, Kansas. Frank was born and raised on the family farm SW of Ness City. He attended school at the one room Manteno Country School. He went on to serve his country honorably during WWII as a Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class in the United States Navy, receiving the World War II Victory medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (1 Bronze Star), and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Ransom VFW Post 7972.
He met and fell in love with Albertina Anna Flax. They were joined in marriage at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ransom, Kansas on May 28, 1946 and have resided in Ness City the past 64 years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vinzenz Fehrenbach, his mother, Emma (Beck) Fehrenbach, his 12 siblings, and his son Michael "Mike" Fehrenbach. He is survived by his wife, four children: Rosemary Wagner, Ransom, Kansas, Berneice "Berni" Funk, Otis, Kansas, Betty Nowlin, Oskaloosa, Kansas, and Janet Nottingham, Douglass, Kansas; Seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Rosary will be held at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City on Thursday, June 17, 2010, 6:15 pm with a wake to follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be at the church on Friday, 10:30 am with Fr. Henry Hildebrandt and Fr. Steve Schuler SDV presiding. Military graveside rites by the Ransom VFW Post 7972 and burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials to the Sacred Heart School or cemetery fund.
