Obituary

Gerald James McDonald, age 77, passed away on April 19, 2013 at Galachia Heart Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. He was born on March 8, 1936 in Ransom, Kansas the son of Miles and Margaret Musselman McDonald.

He was a lineman for electric companies serving Ness County as well as a farmer and stockman. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ness City. He was an avid bowler, a former Scoutmaster of Troop 131 and he coached little league baseball. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

On April 6, 1957 he married Ramona Mitchell in Ford, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 3, 1988. He later married Shirley Kutina on July 22, 1989 in Topeka, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include seven sons, Jim and Rhonda McDonald, Hill City, Donald and Jackie McGranahan, Topeka, Bruce McGranahan, Wamego, Nathan and Michelle McDonald, Ness City, Stuart and Shelly McDonald, Ness City, Jeff and Jessica McGranahan, Ness City, and Jamie and Faith McGranahan, Collinsville, OK; three daughters, Debra and Terry Kubes, Clay Center, Trudy Padilla, Paola, and Marlena Durflinger and friend John Merryfield, Ozawkie; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parent; step-mother, Barbara "Bobbi" McDonald; wife, Ramona McDonald; brother, Joseph McDonald; and grandson, Matthew McDonald.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, Ness followed by burial in the Ness City Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with the family present from 7-9 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church, Ness City, Ness City High School FFA, Ness City Relay for Life team "The Cure", or the American Red Cross.
