Gerald Edward Offutt, age 70, passed away at Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care, Quinter, Kansas on December 8, 2013.
He was born on August 13, 1943 in Dighton, Kansas, the son of Glenn and Pauline Marie (Munstedt) Offutt.
Gerald was a carpenter for most of his life. He was a past president of Lions Club, Utica, a member of the Utica Library Board, a member of Knights of Columbus, a member of the volunteer fire department, and an EMT in LaCrosse, Kansas. He was a very religious man. He had been married to Norma Jean (Bongartz) Offutt for 27 years.
He is survived by his son, Justin (Khristy) Offutt, Charles Town, West Virginia; daughter Angela (Kenton) Gleason, Jetmore, Kansas; brothers, Norman (Anita) Offutt, Dumas, Texas; Kent (Geri) Offutt, Coldwater, Kansas; Kevin (Gwen) Offutt, Healy, Kansas; sister, Marla (Bill) Edwards, Cassoday, Kansas; grandchildren, Jenessa ( Will) Butterbaugh, Jeremey Offutt, Steven Offutt, Avonlea Tepe, Preston Offutt, Felicity Tepe, Madeline Offutt, Reese Gleason; and great-grandchild Aldyn Butterbaugh.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and a son-in-law, Bret Tepe.
Viewing will be Wednesday, December 11, 9 A.M.-9 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City, with family greeting friends from 6 P.M.-8 P.M.
Funeral service will be Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Utica, Kansas, at 11:00 A.M.
Cremation will follow the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to North Ness County Ministerial Alliance.
