Gilbert Philip Rebel's Obituary
Gilbert Philip Rebel, age 84, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.
He was born on February 18, 1927 in Schoenchen, Kansas the son of Joe and Lena Zimmerman Rebel.
He was a farmer and he worked for Ness County road maintenance for 37 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus both of Ness City.
On April 16, 1951 he married Jenny Randa at Schoenchen. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Rick and wife Teri, Parker, Colorado, Terry and wife Kathy, Great Bend, Tim and wife Susan, Las Vegas, Nevada; three daughters, Glenda Bangerter and husband Bruce, Leoti, Becky Burrell, Ness City, Michelle Foster and husband Kirk, Utica, Kansas; two brothers, Ralph and wife Bonnie, Ness City, Jerry and wife Sandy, Manhattan; one sister, Vera Munsch, Ness City; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Matthew Foster, brothers, Issy and Alvin Rebel; and five sisters: Josephine Basgall, Margaret Huelke, Janete Girard, Ruth Rupp, and Martina Betz.
Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City from 9am – 9pm Tuesday and Wednesday. Rosary will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, 11am at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City. Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund and Masses in lieu of flowers.
