Henry Edward Swartz, age 88, passed away at Bethany Home, Lindsborg, Kansas on January 8, 2012. He was born on April 29, 1923 in Ft. Scott, Kansas the son of Paul and Ethel Morgan Swartz.
He was a farmer and a lifetime resident of Rush County. He was a World War II veteran, a recipient of the Purple Heart, a VFW member, and a member of the Alexander United Methodist Church.
On January 28, 1945 he married Norma Clark. She preceded him in death on June 28, 1998. He is survived by sons, Edward (Louise) Swartz, Alexander, and Steven (Loretta) Swartz, Rush Center; daughters, Dianna (Stanley) O'Brien, Wichita, Cynthia (Lyle) Seltmann, LaVerne, Tennesse, Susan (Ernest) Bailey, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Patricia (Michael) Johnson, Marquette; brothers, Roger (Judy) Boese, Macdoel, California, and Wayne (Ginnie) Boese, Hugo, Colorado; sisters, Hazel Scheuerman, Great Bend, and Estella (Alan) Miller, WaKeeney; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Todd Allen Seltmann; and granddaughter, Deborah Seltmann.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 14, 2012, 10:30 A.M. at Alexander United Methodist Church, Alexander. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, on Thursday from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. and Friday from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M., with the family present on Friday from 6 to 8 P.M. Burial in Alexander Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Central Prairie Honor Flight.
