Howard Scott Wells, 78, died Wednesday, November 18 at the Ness county Hospital, Ness City.
He was the son of William H. and Alice Flaiz Wells. He was born September 1, 1931 at the family farm near Scott City, Kan.
He was a cattleman, horse trainer and cowboy who had been a Ness City resident since 1985. Prior to that, he spent many years cowboying in the Kansas Flint Hills.
Survivors include three brothers: Malvin Wells and Willard Wells, Scott City, and Ed Wells, Leoti, Kan.; three sisters: Willma Baker, Scott City, Charlotte Holmes, San Diego, Cal., and Alita Barrows and husband Rodney, Ness City. He is also survived by four step-children: Gerald Adam, Soloman, Kan.; Vickie Schmidt and husband Norman, Abilene, Kan.; Terry Adam, Denton, Tex.; and Tim Adam and wife Myra, Herrington, Kan. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren, nieces and nephews who he adoredd. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maggie Conine.
Howard was cremated and his family will honor his memory at the Scott City Cemetery Saturday, November 21. His ashes will be committed to his favorite pasture in Ness County.
