Ivan Dale Janke, age 56, passed away on October 20, 2012, at his home in rural McCracken, Kansas. He was born January 20, 1956, to Alvin and Ruth (Moore) Janke. They preceded him in death.
Ivan graduated McCracken High School in 1974 and attended Fort Hays State University where he met Peggy Stude of Garfield, KS. They were married October 7, 1978 in Larned, KS. He leaves behind his wife Peggy Janke, daughter Megan Janke and Jason Abernathy of Buhler, KS, 2 sons Landon Janke and Jordan Janke of McCracken, KS, his dog Rocco, and a sister, Margaret Allen of Arkansas.
Ivan followed God's word at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Hays, KS. He raised cattle and operated the family farm of McCracken, KS. He was the Assistant Fire Chief for the McCracken Volunteer Fire Department, President of the McCracken Rural Water District, and volunteered for the annual McCracken Rodeo
Ivan was a loving husband, father and friend to all that knew him and made new friends wherever he went. He was well known for giving those around him a hard time and always had a story to tell. Ivan enjoyed activities such as hunting and target shooting, bowling, boating, vacationing and attending KC Chiefs football games.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 24, 2012, 10:30 A.M. at Messiah Lutheran Church, Hays, Kansas with burial in the McCracken Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Monday from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9am until 9pm with the family present from 7-8 P.M.. Memorial contributions may be given to the McCracken Volunteer Fire Department.
