Obituary

James Kenneth "Whitie" Wierman, 88 of McCracken, Kansas, passed away on November 25, 2012.
He was born August 11, 1924 in Ness County, Kansas to William and Margaret McGaughey Wierman.

He was a farmer/stockman.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in General Patton's Army with the 26th Tank Battalion, 16th Armored Division in Germany from October 13, 1943 to April 12, 1946. He also served in the Korean War from September 14, 1952 to September 11, 1954, serving with a tank company of the 47th Regiment attached to the 9th Infantry Division. James served in the Army Reserves from 19554-1955. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was an American Legion member for 64 years.

James is survived by brothers: Francis (Roberta) Wierman of McCracken, KS and Keith (Wanda) Wierman of Minneapolis, KS; sister: Elizabeth "Betty" Greenway of McCracken, KS; and many nephews and nieces.

James was preceded in death by his brothers: William, Albert, and Eugene; sisters: Gertrude Brackney, Marie Pfannenstiel, Mildred Kraisinger, Marjorie Linenberger, and Delores Chlumsky.

Viewing at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Tuesday November 27 from 11 AM to 3 PM and at with the family at the church from 5 PM until service time. Vigil services will be held at 7 PM at St. Mary's Heritage Church, McCracken, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Heritage Church, McCracken, KS. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, rural McCracken.
