Jimmie Newton Curtis, age 89, passed away on December 12, 2025 at the Atchison Senior Village in Atchison, Kansas.  He was born on August 28, 1936, in Ness City, Kansas the son of Michael and Margaret Paul Curtis.

He was a near lifetime resident of Ness City where he operated the family liquor store, and retired from the City of Ness City as the water superintendent.   After retiring, he saw to upkeep of the city cemetery.

He married Betty Lusk in June of 1959, they were later divorced. He later married Margaret "Jean" Shanahan on December 14, 1991. She passed away on February 19, 2008.

He is survived by his sons Michael Curtis and wife Teresa of Atchison, Kansas, Delvin Curtis and wife Heather of Fort Worth, Texas; a stepdaughter Margaret Ballard and husband Dirk of Denver, Colorado; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; son, Alan Curtis; and sister Ilo Baczkowski.

Rosary will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Friday, December 19, 2025 6:30 P.M.  Mass of Christian burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Friday from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart School or Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund.
