Joseph Miles McDonald, age 72, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his home in Brownell, Kansas. Born June 7, 1938 in Ransom, Kansas the son of Miles and Margaret Musselman McDonald. He was a farmer and a former supervisor for the State Highway Maintenance Department. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the Dale Sunley Post American Legion No 382, Brownell and he was the Brownell Fire Chief for numerous years. On February 4, 1961 he married Barbara Deiser in Ness City, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include one son, William McDonald, Ransom, Kansas; 3 daughters, Cynthia Maier and her husband Steve, Brownell, Susan McDonald and fiance Alan Mischler, Ransom, and Debra Hamilton and friend Scott Foos, Ness City; one brother, Jerry McDonald and his wife Shirley, Ness City; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandson TJ Hellerud.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 10:30 am at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City with Reverend Mark Chambers presiding. Burial in the Vansburgh Cemetery, Brownell. Friends may call Monday from 1pm till 9pm and Tuesday 9am - 9pm with the family present from 7-9. Memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, breast cancer research or the Brownell Fire Department.
