Keith Robert Hertel, 62, passed away on August 20, 2021 in  WaKeeney, Kansas.  He was born on August 3, 1959 in Ransom, Kansas the son of Wilfred and Helen Dechant Hertel.

He was a lifetime resident of Ness County and attended both the Sacred Heart School and the Ness City High School.  He worked as a welder and repairman for Murfin Drilling and WWW Drilling both of WaKeeney. He married Laura Dreiling Jensen on February 22, 2014, in Hays, Kansas.  They were later divorced.

Keith is survived by is mother, Helen of Rossville, Kansas; two sisters, Diane VanGilder and her husband, Larry, of Topeka, Kansas and Janis Weyer of Barneston, Nebraska; four brothers, David Hertel and his wife, Jo, of Brandon, Mississippi, Jim Hertel and his wife, Holly, of Bazine, Kansas. Kevin Hertel and his wife, Jill, of Gibbon, Nebraska and Craig Hertel and his wife, Jenny, of Meridian, Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Words can't express our grief and sadness at Keith's passing.  He will be missed in so many ways by his family and all those who knew and loved him.  Keith will be with us and in our hearts forever.

A graveside memorial service will be held at St. John The Baptist Cemetery near Bazine, Kansas on Saturday, October 23, 2021, 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Sacred Heart School.
