Leonard Alfred Rohr, age 78, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 while working on the family farm in rural Trego County near Ransom, Kansas. He was born on June 14, 1933 on the family farm in rural Trego County, Kansas the son of Jacob and Frances Herman Rohr.
He was a farmer and stockman and had worked for Trego County as a motor grader operator. Leonard was the owner operator of C&R Salvage for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sunflower Polka Club, St. Aloysius Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #2352, Ransom and the Eagles Aerie #3774, WaKeeney. He was also a long time board member of the Trego County Rural Water District.
On April 14, 1958 he married Marjorie Cheney in Dighton, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, James J. Rohr (Judy), Ransom and Thomas C. Rohr (Betty), Hiawatha, Iowa; two brothers, Aloysius Rohr of Hutchinson and Celestine Rohr of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, one step-granddaughter; one great grandson and two step-great granddaughters and his mother-in-law, Rose Cheney, Dighton. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew and Alvin; two sisters, Irene Baalman and Frances Carlman; and his father-in-law, Carl Cheney.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012, 10:30 A.M at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas. Burial in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Ransom. Friends may call Sunday and Monday 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the St. Aloysius Cemetery Fund
