Leonard Andrew Stoecklein, age 80, passed away on October 18, 2014 at the Ness County Hospital, Ness City, Kansas. He was born on October 28, 1933 on the farm in rural Ness County, near Bazine the son of Martin and Anna Depperschmidt Stoecklein.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus, Ness City. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a farmer and also worked for Texaco as a mechanic from which he retired. He was a lifetime resident of Ness County and will be remembered as a great husband, father, and grandfather.

On October 11, 1958 he married Clarice Werth in Schoenchen, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his son, Kevin Stoecklein (Amy), Ness City; three daughters, RoxAnne Erb (Eldon), Broomfield, CO, Susan Swim (Don), Chandler, AZ, and Stephanie Stoecklein, Hutchinson, KS; three brothers, Jim Stoecklein, Hutchinson, Don Stoecklein, Olathe, KS, and Martin Stoecklein Jr., Eufaula, OK; four sisters, Mary Ann Pavlu, Topeka, KS, Sister Darlene Stoecklein, El Paso, TX, Betty Gassman, Manhattan, KS, and Donna Werth, Great Bend, KS; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary L. Stoecklein; brothers, Harvey, Gary, Melvin, and an infant brother; and sisters, Dorothy Mae, Sister Virginia Stoecklein, LuVera Rohr, Cleo Werth, and Judy Stoecklein.

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City, with burial following in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary will be on Monday, October 20, 2014, 7:00 P.M. at the church.

Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City or at the church before the service.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Sacred Heart Church.
