Lewis J. Friess, age 85, died August 8, 2011 at Rhode Island Suites, Ransom, Kansas. He was born March 19, 1926 in Ransom, Kansas the son of Matthias and Mayme Roths Friess. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Ness City and the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He lived in Lyons, KS working as a machine inspector for Krause Plow Corp. for 30 years, then moved to Ness City in 1985. He married Lois Goodfellow on April 18, 1953, she preceded him in death on December 8, 1977. He married Angela Gabel Stecklein on August 31, 1985. She survives.
Other survivors include 4 sons: Vince (Brenda), Tim (Brenda) both of Great Bend, KS, Mark, Netawaka, KS and Brian (Linda), Lyons; 7 brothers: Elmer, Donald, Warren, Harold, Frederick, Daniel, and Maurice; 6 sisters: Sister Janice (Bernadette) Friess, Anna Mae Ferguson, Mary Frances Flax, Rosella McLain, Janice Hornung, and Cathy Ator; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 2 sons: Matt and John; 3 brothers Cletus, Bernard, and Eugene and 2 sisters: Laurene Marvin and Marjorie Flax.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 13, 2011, 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City, burial following in the Lyons Cemetery, 3:00 pm. Rosary 6:30 pm and Vigil 7:00 pm, Friday, 6:30 at the church. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Thursday, 9 am – 9pm and Friday, 9am until 2:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be given to Sacred Heart Church or Rhode Island Suites
