Lydia Stecklein, age 88, passed away at Scott County Hospital, Scott City, Kansas on February 26, 2011. She was born on May 26, 1922 in Ness County, Kansas the daughter of Joseph and Amelia Ruder Pfannenstiel. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Ness County. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society both of Ness City. On September 25, 1944 she married Edward Stecklein. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2011.
She is survived by her son, Warren Stecklein, Scott City; daughter, Cheryl Griffin (Larry), Hutchinson; sisters, Florence and Iona Pfannenstiel; grandchildren, Darrin Griffin (Keri), Minneapolis, Kansas and Tiffany Stecklein, Wichita and great-grandsons Lane and Wyatt Griffin. She was preceded in death by brothers: Wendell, Edgar, Theobaldus, Marcellus, Robert, Harold and William Pfannenstiel and sisters: Adeline Leiker and Tillie Depperschmidt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 3, 2011, 11:00 A.M. Sacred Heart Church, Ness City. Rosary will be held at the church on Wednesday at 6:30 with the Parish Vigil following at 7:00 PM. Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund.
