Marcella O. Lutters, 87, died Monday, February 1, at the Grisell Memorial Hospital, Ransom.
Marcella was born at the family farmhouse northwest of Ransom on January 16, 1923 to Joseph P. and Matilda Elizabeth Young Kraus, the youngest of 11 children. She attend Pink School north of Ransom all 8 grades. She was the piano player for the family band "Nubs and his Nubbins", which played at many barn dances and weddings.
On July 31, 1945 she married Joseph F. Lutters at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ransom.
She was a devoted wife, mother of 13, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She was a member of the St. Aloysius Church and Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She was very devoted to the church and her Christian faith.
Survivors include: five sons, Joe E. Lutters and wife, Patti, Ness City, Ed Lutters and wife, Terri of Buena Vista, CO, Jim Lutters, Ransom, Bill Lutters, Ness City, and Richard Lutters, Ransom; seven daughters, Mary Funk and husband, Mel, Nortonville, Carol Dumbar and husband, George, Buena Vista, CO, Jeanette Hornung, Dodge City, Geraldine Offutt and husband, Kent, Coldwater, Barbara Summers and husband, Dave, Scott City, Kathy Sunley and husband, Rich, Ransom and Debbie Wantland and husband, Ron, Pueblo; 29 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 4, 1980, an infant daughter, Cecilia, September 1961, eight brothers, Albert, Early, Ralph, Leo, Norbert, Hugo, Florian, Cyril and two sisters, Lena Hilmes and Josephine Ketzner.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2pm until 9pm and on Thursday from 9am until 3pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and at the church from 5pm until service time.
A parish vigil and rosary will be held on Thursday, February 4, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 5, 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, Ransom, with Fathers Bill Kraus, David Kraus and Henry Hildebrandt presiding.
Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Ransom.
