Marjorie M. Laas, age 93, passed away at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas on March 29, 2014.

She was born on November 23, 1920 in Fredrick, Kansas, the daughter of William J. and Dessa M. Gregory Holmes.

Marjorie was a 1939 graduate of Beeler High School. She was the Ness County Register of Deeds for over 20 years.

On August 10, 1940, she married Rudy E. Laas in LaCrosse, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1963.

She is survived by her son, Kent (Theresa) Laas, Hays; daughter, Pam (Norman) Rein, Hays; grandchildren, Crista (Matt) Carlile, Sara (Adam) Olberding, Travis (Shannon) Rein; great-grandchildren, Devon Carlile, Cash and Royal Olberding, Aaron and Zoe Rein; brothers-in-law, Don Whipple, Joel Laas; sisters-in-law, Martina Holmes and Mary Bain.

She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Dessa Mae; brother, Max Holmes; sisters, Garnet Shover, Marie Stum, Joan Whipple, and Bonnie Ruth Holmes.

Viewing will be Monday, March 31, 2014, 9 A.M. - 9 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas.

Services will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, Ness City.

Burial in Ness City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hays Maranatha Christian School; St. Jude's Children Hospital; or Humane Society of the High Plains, Hays.
