Mary Frances (Rupp) Eggers passed away on Aug. 7, 2010 at the age of 98 at the Franciscan Villa Nursing Center in Broken Arrow, OK. She was born one of 11 children on October 9,1911 near Bazine in Ness County, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Dechant Rupp. Mary attended school in rural Ness County and married Charles Eggers on February 28,1938 in the St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Nonchalanta, Ness County, Kansas. Together they had four children, two of whom died in childhood, while working a wheat farm outside of Ness City, Kansas. They were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Mary was involved in many women's activities and groups at the Church. Mary was an expert seamstress who was known for crafting beautiful bridesmaids dresses, as well as sewing for her loved ones.
Mary is survived by her sons Kenneth J. Eggers of Canton, Georgia and Gary W. Eggers of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, her three grandchildren, Tammy Givens, Gina Crittenden and Steven Eggers, and six great-grandchildren. Other survivors include brothers Paul Rupp of Lakin, Kansas and Adam Rupp of Fort Dodge, Kansas as well as her sisters: Julia Stoecklein of Hutchinson, Kansas, Rita Riebel of Minneola, Kansas, and Elvira Billinger of Scott City, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Eggers, who passed on March 15,1992, their son Donald Lee Eggers, their daughter Judith Ann Eggers, her brothers John Rupp, Frank Rupp, Michael Rupp, and her sisters Kathryn Zimmerman and Pauline Kaiser.
The funeral mass will be said at 10:00 am on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church in Ness City, Kansas with Father Henry Hildebrandt as Celebrant. The internment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Ness City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Church. No flowers please
