Mary Alice Philpott, age 94, passed away October 2, 2019 at Cedar Village Long Term Care, Ness City. She was born on May 19, 1925 in Haviland, Kansas. She was the daughter of Dale Minter and Myrtle Agnes (Williams) Drake.

She attended Haviland schools and graduated from high school in 1943. She then attended Friends Bible College (now Barclay) in Haviland. She married Lawrence Vernon Philpott on August 10, 1950, he died Sept. 14, 2006. She worked at Haviland Telephone Co., Haviland State Bank and Farmers' State Bank. She also worked for the Hallmark Store in Ft. Morgan, CO before retiring and moving to Bazine in 1983. She attended the Bazine United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Calvin and Ira Drake and sisters, Vera Kleweno and Rhoda Elliot. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Gladys Schmidt of Hillsboro, Joan Philpott of Haviland, and Becky Philpott of Oregon.

Graveside memorial service and inurnment will be on Monday, October 7, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at the Bazine Cemetery.
