Maxine Viola Giess' Obituary
Maxine V. Giess, age 91, died September 28, 2009 at the Grisell Memorial Hospital, Ransom.
Born September 29, 1917 near Arnold the daughter of Charles and Marjorie Rowe Conkright.
She was a bookkeeper for the Ransom Long Term Care for many years. She was a member of the Arnold United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary Post 7972, Ransom, Go Getters Senior Citizens Center, Ransom and the Janes & Jeans Square Dance Club, Ransom.
On March 17, 1937 she married Hubert Lyle Giess at WaKeeney. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1979.
Survivors include: two sons: Dwight Giess, Lakewood, Colorado and Rodney and wife Marcia Giess, Arnold; sister, Jean Huxman, Arnold; sister-in-law, Virginia Conkright, Ransom, and 3 grandchildren, Tim, Kathy, and Shawn.
She was preceded in death by brother, Orval Conkright and sister, Beulah Huxman.
Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday, September 30, 2009, 2:00 P.M. at the Arnold Cemetery with Reverend Barbara McLain presiding. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 – 9 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. The family requests memorial contributions to be given to the VFW or Ladies Auxiliary Post #7972 Ransom.
