Mildred Foos, age 86, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born on May 7, 1926 in Bazine, Kansas the daughter of George and Eva Hettinger Strecker.

She was a retired caregiver. She had been a member of the Congregational Church in Kinsley, Kansas and had lived in Ness County, Rush Center, Kinsley, and Hays.

She married Reinhold Foos in February of 1945. They later divorced in 1972.

She is survived by her four daughters, Carol Basgall, Wichita, Marilyn Wilhelm (Dennis), Rush Center, Beverly "Janie" Meder (Ken), Hays, and Deborah North, Southwest Kansas; two sisters, Rachel Stieben and Arlene Schamaun, both of Great Bend, Kansas; sister-in-law Vella Strecker, Bazine; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lawrence and Waldimore (Dick) Strecker, and sisters Martha Murphy, Hermina Ries, and Hilda Rein.

Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas with burial in the Bazine Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans.
