Obituary

Paul Seib Jr., age 90, died on November 13, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.  He was born on April 9, 1933, on the farm in Ness County, Kansas, the son of Paul and Mary (Stoecklein) Seib .

He was a 1951 graduate of Ness City High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.  On March 4, 1957, he married Shelby Kay Borger in Ness City.  Together they raised their six children.  Paul was a farmer and cattleman, and a pillar of the Ness County Community.  He served on many boards, over the years, including Sunflower Electric Power Corporation for 44 years.  He was a director for the Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative board for 48 years and served Farm Credit for 30 years.  Paul was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ness City, and he earned the 3rd and 4th degrees within the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council.

Paul is survived by his wife, Shelby of Ness City; and his six children, Bradley (Connie) Seib of Hays, Denissa Stecklein of Perryton, Texas, Diane (J.D.) Bell, Myron (Karen) Seib, Eric (Tammy) Seib all of Ness City, and Chris (Wendy Mohler) Seib of Rose Hill, Kansas; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; five brothers, Tom (Ellen) Seib of Stanwood, Washington, Robert (Jo) Seib, Vern (Glenda) Seib, Gary (Glorie) Seib all of Denver, Colorado, and Eugene Seib of San Francisco, California and one sister, Lorita Franz of Wichita.  He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, Eleanor, Tony, Florence, Benita, Mary Catherine, Jerry, and James; daughter-in-law, Monica Seib, and son-in-law, Jerry Stecklein.

Friends may sign the book at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorial service will be held at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City on Monday, November 20, 2023, 11:00 a.m. with inurnment following in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Prior to the service a rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Cemetery, or the American Diabetes Association.
