Obituary

Pauline Madaline Schuler Rufenacht Barrows passed away Sept. 21, 2009 at Cedar Village, Ness City, at the age of 94. She was born May 21, 1915 at Neosho, Missouri to Alois and Sophie Philquist Schuler.

She married Benjamin D. Rufenacht on July 22, 1936 at Ness City. He died March 15, 1994. Then she married Chester Barrows on April 2, 1996. He died in May 2003.

She has been a resident of Ness County since 1936. She was a homemaker and farm wife.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, the Ness County Historical Society, and the Gingham Girls, all of Ness City.

She is survived by 2 sons: George Rufenacht, Avon, CO, Benjamin Rufenacht, Jr. and his wife Randae, Ness City, Step-son: Charles Barrows and his wife, Nylene, Littleton, CO, 3 Daughters: Janice Parsons, Manhattan, KS, Judy Humburg and her husband, Don, Ness City, Joyce Rufenacht, Bakersfield, California, Step-Daughter: Florence Berning and her husband, Terry, Scott City, KS. 12 Grandchildren, 5 Step-Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 4 Step-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Rufenacht, 4 Brothers: Richard, David, Herman and Louis Schuler and 3 sisters, Marie Buckbee, Louise Means, Ruby Pace.

Funeral service were Thursday, Sept. 24, 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church Ness City, with Rev. Mark Chambers. Burial in the Ness City Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 9:00 am to 9:00 P.M. The family visitation will be Wednesday from 6-7:30 PM at the funeral home Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or the Ness County Historical Society, both of Ness City.
