Pauline Gumescheimer,99, of Ness City, died October 2, 2012 at Cedar Village in Ness City, Kansas. Pauline was born November 21, 1912, in St. Louis, Missouri, to George Frederick and Maria Christine Bienn Helzer She grew up in Ness County and attended Rosedale school there. She married Karl Litzenberger, November 24, 1932. She later married Jake Gumescheimer, December 8, 1960. They resided in Bazine, Kansas until his death, June 5, 1980.
Pauline was a homemaker and loved to play cards with her friends and cook and sew. She made many quilts for family and others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Dorothy Hull; three brothers, Fred Helzer, Henry Helzer and Jake Helzer and three sisters, Marie Stokes, Emma Richmond and Molly Vilott.
Survivors are a daughter, Phyllis Smith, Alamosa, Colorado, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and viewing will be Friday, October 5, 2012, at 1:00 pm at Bazine cemetery, Bazine, Kansas, with Pastor Sam Flick presiding. Memorials may be made out to Cedar Village in care of the funeral home.
