Phyllis Jane Mendenhall, age 90, died on June 3, 2023 at Rhode Island Suites in Ransom, Kansas.  She was born on July 21, 1932 in Hugoton, Kansas the daughter of Isaac L. and Eunice J. (Hawk) Harvey.

Phyllis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Utica and worked at the Grisell Memorial Hospital, the Utica Post Office and the Citizen State Bank of Utica.  But mostly she will be remembered as the Avon "Ding Dong Lady".

On April 9, 1950, she married Dale Duane "Dewey" Mendenhall in Utica.  He preceded her in death in February of 2002.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Lonna Mendenhall of WaKeeney and Jane Urruty of Buffalo, WY; son, Kyle Mendenhall of Muskogee, OK and adopted son, Ger Kattouw of the Netherlands; sisters, Letha Babcock, Utica and Wanda Boxberger, WaKeeney.  She is preceded in death by her husband Dewey, 4 brothers, Larry, Calvin, Allen, and Fred; 1 sister, Mary Etta Parks, and her parents.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for June 8, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at the Utica Methodist Church, Utica.  Burial will be in the Utica Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Utica Grade School.  Bud Tuxhorn will officiate. Visitation will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Utica Methodist Church.
