Rachel Frieda Stieben, 98, passed away on July 27, 2022, at Locust Grove Village in LaCrosse, Kansas.  She was born on March 12, 1924, in Rural Galatia, Kansas the daughter of George and Eva (Hettinger) Strecker.

Rachel was a near lifetime resident of Bazine, where she was baptized and confirmed, raised her family, and worked alongside her husband on the farm. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of Bazine.

She married Marvin Stieben on November 11th, 1945, in Bazine, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on September 16, 1987.

Rachel is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Ann Maier and her husband, Dennis, of Bazine and Joyce Elaine Hoss and her husband, Harold, of Ness City; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Stieben; two brothers, Lawrence and Dick Strecker; six sisters, Lydia, Martha, Hermina, Hilda, Mildred, and Arlene; and one grandson, Scott Maier.

Funeral service will be on Monday, August 1, 2022, 10:30 AM, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas.  Burial in the Bazine Cemetery, Bazine, Kansas.  Viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Christ Pilot Me Hill or the Ness City Public Library.
