R.D. Rothe, age 73, traded in his pilot wings for angel wings on April 12, 2020 at his home in Ness City. R.D. was born on April 15, 1946 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was the son of Grover an Avis (Bell) Rothe.

He married Candy Austin on March 12, 1966 in WaKeeney, Kansas. They later divorced but remained very special friends.

R.D. was the owner and operator of Rothe Air Spraying for 40 years. He also worked for Dun and Gardner as a driller and tool pusher and later worked for Fritzler Trucking driving a water truck. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ness City.

R.D. is survived by his son, Travis Rothe of Ness City; sister, Linda Harkness and her husband, Gary, of Larned; uncle, Louis Bell and his wife, Pat, of San Jose, CA; cousins; Joy McCoy and her husband, Tom, of Ness City and Ben Carpenter of Canada; and special friend, Candy Austin of WaKeeney. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside memorial service will be held at the Ness City Cemetery on Saturday, June 27, 2020, 10:30 a.m..
