Richard Dean VanDegrift, 70, passed away on May 29, 2023 at the Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born on January 10, 1953 in Great Bend, Kansas the son of Barry and Arlene (Switzer) VanDegrift.

Rick was a truck driver. He hauled cattle, and milk. He worked in the oil field, and also, cut meat.  He married Carol Hurt on Saturday, September 10, 1983, in Willroads Gardens, Kansas.

Survivors include wife, Carol Vandegrift of Ellinwood; son, William (Jolene) Perkins of Holcomb; 4 daughters, Mandy Dusin of Corpus Christi, TX, Tina Tatman of Ellinwood, Amber (Josh) Burt of Peoria, AZ, April (Christopher) Riley of Mesa, AZ; 2 brothers, Michael (Nancy) Vandegrift of Hutchinson, Kirk (Shirley) Vandegrift of Ellinwood; 20 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild, P.K.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kirby VanDegrift; and a grandson, Ryan Turner.

Graveside service will be on Friday, June 9, 2023, 10:00 A.M., at the Ness City Cemetery, Ness City, Kansas. Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas, on Monday June 5, 2023 from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M.
