Robert Keith "Jigger" Funk, 86, passed away on September 25, 2021 at his home in WaKeeney, Kansas. He was born on July 10, 1935 in rural Ness County, Kansas the son of Theodore and Dorothy (Matkins) Funk.
Jigger attended Ness City Elementary school and graduated from Ness City High School in 1953. He attended Garden City Junior College and Emporia State University where he also played football. After two years of college, Bob enlisted in the United States Army where he was a member of a 69th Armor Regiment, 2nd Tank Battalion. He was a mill wright and constructed many elevators before turning to metal manufacturing where he made oil tanks, heavy duty tricycles and cattle sheds. Bob married Marlene Wilson on Saturday, October 3rd, 1959, in McCracken. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his three daughters, Anita Butler and her husband, Jeff, of McCracken; Shari Funk of WaKeeney; and Kelly Weber and her husband, Mike, of Ness City; four grandchildren, Ursula Pohlman (Nate), Spencer Robert White (Whitney), Levi White (Rachel), and Mason Coats (Dakota); great grandson, Rowan Robert White; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Gilbert and Verlene Wilson-Braden; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry Funk and his wife, Lois; a sister, Ramona Smith and her husband, Howard "Smitty"; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Wilson and Babe Gilbert.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, October 9, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, WaKeeney. Burial in the McCracken Cemetery, McCracken, at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church, WaKeeney, Northwest Kansas Cares - Hospice, or Shriners Hospitals.
