Mishler
April 7, 1935 – February 16, 2025
Robert Dean Mishler, age 89 passed away Sunday February 16, 2025, at Rhode Island Suites in Ransom Kansas.
Robert was born April 7, 1935, in Ransom Kansas to Margaret (White) Mishler and Leo A. Mishler. He graduated from Ransom High School in 1953 and briefly attended Kansas State University prior to joining the United States Air Force where he served as a medic.
He and Patricia Ann Shearer were married August 27, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Arnold Kansas. To this union 3 children were born; Nancy (Smith), Janet (Wyman), and Brian.
After his service in the Air Force, Bob and Pat moved to their farm south of Arnold where he worked as a farmer and rancher and also in Mishler Oil, his oil pumping business. Bob served his community as a member of the administrative board of the Arnold Methodist Church and also as a 12-year member of the school board at Ransom USD 302. He was a member of the Brownell American Legion and in 1968 was awarded Ness County Conservationist of the Year.
One of Bob's main interests was traveling and together, he and Pat made it to 49 of the 50 states and several foreign countries. They also enjoyed many evenings with dear friends playing cards in their pinocle club. Other adventures included cruises, camping and boating and an "occasional" trip to a casino.
Robert will be greatly missed by his wife Patricia, children Nancy (Dirk), Janet (Gerald) and Brian (Janet). He was also beloved by his 7 grandchildren; Matthew, Dustin (Margee) and Jeremy (Whitney) Smith, Melissa (Tony) Milhon, Holly (Tyler) Kraus, Alison (Jesse) Nuttle, and Braden (Maci) Mishler. Robert's 9 great-grandchildren are Monreau, Sadie and Scott Smith, Isabella and Isaac Milhon, Carson and Mason Kraus, and Liam and Lyla Nuttle. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Leo, his sister Joy Kirkman and his brother Richard Mishler.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Arnold Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Arnold cemetery.
Visitation will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City, Kansas on Friday, February 21st from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Words of sympathy and support may be left for the family by writing in the guest book.
Memorials may be given to the Arnold Methodist Church and the Ransom VFW.
